Frequent Falls can be Signs of Another Problem

Falls actually occur for many reasons. Falls occur simply out of shear accident. You slide on something slippery, you are knocked over by something, etc. When you fall because you lost your balance, this is more concerning as it alludes to the fact that there is more going on, i.e., a problem. There are many medical conditions which contribute to fall risk. Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, cardiac problems to name a few. In the absence of disease, fall risk occurs as an affect of normal aging. This is insidious, and most do not perceive that their balance is poor until put to the test, at which point they fall. Some who fall will be fortunate and get a second chance to treat their poor balance, others nay not be so fortunate and suffer grave injuries that may even be fatal. As human’s age, the spine tends to degenerate as part of the normal again process. Because of this degenerative process, the proprioceptive systems that send information to the areas of your brain that regulate balance, tend to diminish over time, so that you have less proprioceptive information reaching the balance centers of the brain. When this happens, first off, you are at increased risk of fall. Now, amplify the situation by adding poor vision, or, being in a situation that requires good balance, like at night when it is dark, or being in a dark room. Consequential balance loss will be amplified. As these two systems fail, which is markedly common in the elderly, increased reliance on the vestibular labyrinthine system becomes necessitated. If there is any problem with this system whatsoever, a fall is imminent. We can easily check these three postural systems in our office, in fact, we do it free as a community service. Falls are endemic and a leading cause of accidental injury and accidental death. For this reason, we urge all individuals, especially those over 60 years of age, to be tested. If you think your balance is fine because you have not yet fallen, you are simply lucky.

The simple fact is that you only know your balance is good if it has been tested and you pass your test. If you already know that you have poor balance, or, you have a history of falling, do yourself a huge favor and take advantage of our offer to test you for free on the CAPS. It will change the course of your life. Call 941 330-8553 today.

Is TMJ a problem for you?

Functional Cranial Release (FCR) is a non-surgical, method of adjusting the bones in the skull from the inside out. It is done by inflating a small balloon in the sinus cavity for just a second or two. Those who have had the treatment have been amazed at the instant release of pressure, and ability to breathe more freely from the start.

Functional Cranial Release treatment has been known to help with or eliminate vertigo or dizziness, migraines, snoring, sleep apnea, chronic sinusitis and TMJ.

Your brain and nervous system control every aspect of your body’s response to stresses, like mental stress, emotional stress, structural stress, toxic stress, and even infections.
By balancing your brain you balance your body’s response to stress and it’s environment. Functional Cranial-Release is the art and science of restoring normal brain and nervous system function.

Snoring and Sleep Apnea Treated with FCR

Whether you’re suffering from sleep apnea or snoring or both there will be a drop in your blood oxygen which can have devastating long term health effects. In addition, you will be deprived of deep restful sleep that’s responsible for growth and repair of all your muscles, joints, organs …. literally every cell in your body. This can lead to accelerated aging, fatigue, depression, and pain just to name a few.

The most common reason snorers seek treatment is due to it’s effect on relationships. Since snoring is usually a sign of deeper issues with mouth breathing, facial structure calapse, inflammation syndromes, weak throat muscles and tongue, sleeping posture / neck alignment, and a loose, stretched out palate.

Rarely snoring or sleep apnea fall into just one causal factor. As with many diseases we can only talk about cofactors, causative agents and life situations that like pieces of puzzle interact with each other, and together promote a chain of events ending with a named set of symptoms, health problems and with Sleep Apnea & Snoring.

Our Mission: Using only natural, healthy methods to address the root causes of Sleep Apnea and Snoring.

Dr. Lieurance will look at signs of obstruction and inflammation during your evaluation. Obstruction can come from a collapsing of the facial bones and hard palate, weak muscles in your throat, enlarged tonsils or tongue, and a palate that drops down lower than normal. By products of normal chemical reactions that occur in your cells can also accumulate in your system and cause the mucous membranes to swell which can also obstruct your throat and sinus airways. There is also the potential for an abnormal curve in the neck or cervical spine to complicate breathing patterns through the throat.

Treatment for Sleep Apnea & Snoring.

Functional Cranial Release is a manipulation of the bones of the skull which can allow for an improved flow of air through the nasal airways. This treatment is performed in series of 4 visits and spaced out 3 weeks. Just like braces to realign the teeth, the treatment involves the brief inflation of small balloons into the nasal passages which over time can make permanent changes to the structure of your skull.

Snoreplasty is the injection of natural remedies into the soft palate which create a firming effect by stimulating collagen formation. Collagen is naturally what keeps things like ligaments and tendons firm. There is medical research that demonstrated a 90% improvement in snoring.

Anti-snoring nutritional programs involve use of supplements containing natural plant enzymes and herbs that are able to break down body secretions, including mucous, allowing the body to reabsorb them and reduce congestion. The herbs can also prevent throat and nose tissue swelling, resulting in a more open and smoother airflow that helps reduce snoring and apnea.

Many times lab tests to include standard blood work, as well as a specialized, in house, testing called Constitutional Testing , is recommended. Inflammatory markers, chemical stress and swelling potential is determined and often targeted nutrition as well as lifestyle changes are encouraged. Spinal Correction using orthopedic pillows as well as traditional chiropractic care to re-establish the normal alignment of the vertebra of the neck . An x-ray of the cervical spine will show your alignment and is often recommended to determine the need for correction.

How FCR can help Trigeminal Neuralgia when nothing else can.

My name is Robin Warner and my boyfriend suffers from trigeminal migraines. He has had these for about 2 1/2 years. For the first six months he vomited every day and was in severe pain daily. He has been seeing a new neurologist for about a year and a half. This doctor has tried Botox, other injections, pain medications, oxygen, Vimpat, etc. He was doing well (however still having migraines but fewer with larger gaps in between for 1 1/2 yrs) They are not back FULL FORCE. We have had to go to the ER quite a few times lately to get “cockails” as he vomits all of his medications. While suffering, he has to call friends, family, whomever, because he cannot be alone. He is in such severe pain at those times that he just wants it to “end”. He will say “this is the last time I can do this” “I can’t do this again”. He asks for his gun. He just wants the pain to end. He as well as I and the rest of his family are very concerned that he will have an accidental overdose due to the amount of pain meds he takes while he has those migraines. He does NOT want to die however while in pain, he just doesn’t care. The migraines might last 10 minutes or 5 hours. There is no factor that we can deduce that causes them, other than the fact that he will get muscle spams in his shoulder right before they kick in full force. He has no quality of life right now as these happen any time, anywhere. He cries, he rocks, he is in absolute misery. This is a 41 year old man who has completed the “Boss Survival Course” is an avid fly fisherman, survivalist, loves to camp, hike, etc. He LOVES life when he does not have this pain, however we are all concerned we will lose him because of an “accident” when he is experiencing this. Is there anything that can be done. He will do anything it takes. I apologize for the length of this email, however while looking for a “cure” I watched a video of one of your patients. It seems as you are our only hope. Please let me know if your clinic is even an option. Thank you in advance for your response.

Hi Robin,

We see patients here with trigeminal neuralgia with very good results. FCR works with Trigeminal Neuralgia by doing two things. First it releases connective tissue from around the area’s of the trigeminal nerve as well as the blood vessels that can cause irritation to the trigeminal nerve. Second it balances the brain hemispheres. This can be of great help because the brain is what ultimatly feels pain. You see your body has millions of nerves that all fire into the brain. The brain is mostly whats called inhibitory to these pain nerves. That is to say the brain holds down all the noise so you don’t go crazy. When your brain is functioning out of balance then the pain becomes whats called sensitized. This sensitization is what can cause pain syndromes in which there is no real damage or injury. So FCR works with both of these VERY REAL physical issues patients with trigeminal neuralgia must address to become free of their pain. I would be happy to see your boyfreind anytime. Please let me know if there is any thing else I can answer for you.
